How it works
An advert says it. A KerbProof record shows it.
Sellers film a short live check on their phone. We match it against the vehicle’s official MOT history and stamp every file as it arrives. Buyers see the evidence before they travel.
If you’re selling
Step 1
Enter your registration
We pull the official MOT history: every test, every mileage reading, every advisory. You see what buyers will see.
Step 2
Film the guided check
About 3 minutes, in the KerbProof app or your phone’s browser. One thing per screen, an outline to line up. If you can’t do a step, just say so.
Step 3
Say it in your own words
Known faults, keys, service history, finance — and what happened to each advisory from the last MOT. Add a price and a description if you like.
Step 4
Put your KerbProof ID in your advert
Advertising sites don’t allow links, so write “KerbProof checked — look up the reg or ID KP-7H3Q4X at kerbproof.com”. The record lasts 14 or 30 days.
Selling as a business? You’ll need a trader account — free for 90 days. Your records show your business details, as the law requires, and buyers can browse all your vehicles on your profile.
If you’re buying
Step 1
Look it up on kerbproof.com
Type the registration, the KerbProof ID from the advert, or the trader’s name. No account, no app.
Step 2
See it as it is today
Walk-round and cold start videos, the mileage, every tyre, the dashboard with the engine running — each one timestamped as it reached us.
Step 3
Check it against the MOT history
What matched, what’s worth asking about, and what couldn’t be checked — plus what to look at when you view it.
Step 4
Then go and see it
Ask the seller questions from the record, or book a viewing with traders. Never pay before you’ve seen the vehicle.
No record found? Ask the seller to make one — it’s free and takes them about three minutes. If an advert claims “KerbProof checked” but nothing comes up, be careful. You can always check the MOT history yourself.
Why it’s hard to fake
- Live camera only. There is no way to pick photos from the gallery or upload a file.
- A 4-digit code, made for that one session, has to be filmed on paper next to the number plate.
- The plate is read and matched to the registration. If it can’t be read, a person checks it.
- Every photo and video is stamped with our server’s clock as it arrives, not the phone’s, and fingerprinted.
- The whole check has to be done within 30 minutes.
- Colour, make and mileage are compared with the MOT record. A mismatch is shown, never hidden.
- If two different sellers record the same registration, both records carry a warning — a classic sign of a cloned plate.
